Arsenal to restrict new boss to just £50million in transfer market as search for Arsene Wenger replacement begins

As nearly all Arsenal fans will tell you, sometimes life is just not fair.

With Arsene Wenger walking out the door they might have thought their new manager would be handed a juicy transfer kitty to replenish the failing squad.

Well, Arsenal will reportedly restrict their new boss to just £50million in the transfer market.

Unlike the two Manchester clubs, the Gunners are not willing to fund a spending spree after they appoint a replacement for Wenger.

Whoever replaces Arsene Wenger will only be given £50m to spend in the transfer windowThe Telegraph are reporting that the club are currently counting the pennies after the consecutive club-record signings of Alexander Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and three new contracts.

And that means whoever the new boss is will only be able to splash cash that they make from selling current players for funds.

Lacazette cost £52m last summer while Aubameyang was £60m while Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were put on big contracts.

But with Arsenal looking likely to miss out on Champions League football for the second season in a row, the board have decided to slash funding for new players.

The report suggests that the restriction in funds could see more opportunities for the youngsters.

Arsenal are still yet to name who will take over from Wenger after he announced he will depart the Emirates after 22 years.

Former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is still the favourite to take over with former Arsenal star Patrick Vieria also being touted.

Arsenal will turn their attention to trying to get a valuable win against Atletico Madrid on Thursday night in the first-leg of their Europa League semi-final clash.
