Arsenal started today’s game at Bournemouth without Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil in their starting line-up.

But who needs those two, when there’s Jefferson Lerma taking to the field?

The real MVP

In an entertaining 2-1 win, the Gunners were able to close in on fourth-placed Chelsea, partly thanks to one of the best own-goals you’ll see this year.

On the 30th minute of the game, marauding full-back Sead Kolasinac charged up-field and delivered a bullet-cross into the box, but was only able to pick out Cherries midfielder Lerma on the edge of the area.

However, as the Colombia stretched for the ball, he somehow managed to rifle home a tremendous shot past his own goalkeeper.

It’s truly one of the best own-goals we’ve ever seen.

Which got us wondering, can an own-goal be a Goal of the Month contender?

In all seriousness, that was rather unlucky.

Fortunately, Joshua King was able to spare the Colombian’s blushes just before half-time with an equalising goal, while Lerma himself came close late-on with a long-distance drive that cannoned off the post.

But in the end, it was another win for the Gunners courtesy of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half strike.

Unai Emery’s side certainly look rather tidy at the moment.

Of course, it helps when opposition players are chipping in with the odd banger.
