Klopp has claimed that the Old Trafford hierarchy pursued him as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor before they approached David Moyes, but he didn’t feel the club was the right fit.
“Manchester United? Yes they were interested a year or a year-and-a-half before, but it didn’t feel right,” Klopp told Sky Sports.
“I couldn’t say Man United is not my club, it didn’t feel right. When Liverpool called, I had no chance.
“It was actually too early for my plans. I said, ‘Wow, come on!’ But then coming here and feeling the spirit immediately, it was just, for me, a match in heaven.”

The man who taught Klopp everything he knows in the game, Eckhard Krautzun, previously stated how it was the former Borussia Dortmund manager’s dream to manage at Old Trafford.
Instead United went with Moyes and 10 months and a Marouane Fellaini signing later the Scot was being jettisoned out of the job as quickly as you can say Louis Van Gaal.
Had Klopp been given the funds and youth prospects offered to Moyes at the time, United could have had a seamless transition out of the Fergie era, we’re sure.
