Arsenal wonderkid joins Barcelona after just two first-team appearances for the Gunners
Arsenal have lost one of their brightest academy talents to the clutches of Barcelona.
18-year-old wonderkid Marcus McGuane – who’s a favourite among the Gunners academy staff and known for his tough tackling – has left the club in search of more first-team opportunities.
PLAY DREAM TEAM WEEKENDER Pick seven players to win £5k!The youngster has played just 14 minutes of first-team football over two substitute appearances in the Europa League this season, having been at the club since he was six.
But having completed his move to Barca on Thursday, it now looks like he’ll join up with the Catalan club’s B-team.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is understood to have tried to persuade the starlet to stay, but Barca’s interest was evidently too tempting.
The deal comes just days after he openly stated his intentions to secure a spot in the club’s first-team, saying to ArsenalMedia: “My goals for the end of the season are to take as many opportunities as I can.
“If I get chances to train with the first team, then to do as well as I can.
“If i get the chance to get in the squad again or play then I want to show what I can do.
“I set goals for the whole season back at the start, then I re-evaluate in January.”
