Football tends to be a game of fine margins – although Manchester City are making a slight mockery of that in the title race.
So if they are to be crowned champions, which now looks almost inevitable, they’ll have Ederson and his bold, tattooed Brazilian face to thank partly for it.

City’s new number one has been a revelation since joining from Benfica in the summer, perfectly suiting Pep Guardiola’s demanding possession-based style.
But while he’s impressed mostly with his feet, Ederson showed he could also use his head in the huge derby win at Manchester United.
With the scoreline at 2-1 entering the final five minutes of the clash, United created a brilliant chance for Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian striker seemed destined to tap in Anthony Martial’s cross five yards out, but Ederson somehow denied him with a stunning reflex stop with his face/neck:

He then got up to deny Mata too
Not only that, he then had the wherewithal to get straight back up and save the rebound from Juan Mata from equally point blank range.
It was a save his opposite number David De Gea would have been proud of and reiterated what a brilliant signing he’s been for the league leaders.
The win, courtesy of goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi, means City are now 11 points clear of their arch rivals at the top.
